Wildflower season is just around the corner and you don’t even need to leave Perth to enjoy it!
With more than 12,000 species of wildflowers in Western Australia, it’s the perfect time to spot them all. From the months of September to November each year, Perth’s public parks are blessed with wild bloomy goodness, and no need to fret as there’s absolutely no shortage of it in Perth City. Ranging from Kings Park, Araluen Botanic Park, Swan Valley and Bold Park – just read on as we’re helping you pick out the best spots to go take some floral polaroids!
Kings Park & Botanic Gardens
The Kings Park Festival celebrates the world’s biggest and most beautiful display of Western Australian wildflowers each year in September. It’s the event of the year for nature lovers, garden gurus and those who are passionate about conservation and the environment. Running for the whole month of September, over 25,000 plants and hundreds of wildflowers will be on display. So, take your pick: gardening tips or guided walk through tour? Araluen Botanic Park
If there’s one thing you should know about Araluen, is that they are renowned for their amazing and vibrant tulips. Over 100,000 tulips bloom in this botanic garden every spring. As well as tulips, the park boasts a large collection of internationally-recognised camellias, roses which circulate back to the 1800’s and native floras including eucalyptus, marri and blackbutt trees. Get your Instagram poses ready as this will surely be a photogenic feast for the eyes while you make your way through the Botanic Park. Find out more here.
Swan Valley
Wines and wildflowers? Don’t mind if we do! Before or after indulging in some wine tasting, we highly recommend checking out all the wildflower trails while you’re in the Valley as it would surely make for one adventurous day. From Wandoo Heights, Gidgegannup to Noble Falls, the Valley is full of gorgeous sights to behold, each with an amazing selection of wildflowers such as the kangaroo paw, everlastings, orchids and banksias to name a few! Bold Park
Who would have thought that there is an impressively diverse park in the middle of City Beach, just a short 20-minute drive from Perth CBD? Well, here’s Bold Park for you! With over 1000 native and non-native species of flora, fauna and fungi to be found within the park boundaries, it’s truly impressive and is home to a number of regionally significant species. You might even spot some wildlife including birds, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates there as well. Have a look for yourself here.
Wireless Hill Park

It’s a 1.3km walk full of banksias, eucalyptus trees, orchids and native wildflowers including the Western Australian emblem, the red and green kangaroo paw (a real must-see)!
