Must-Visit Breweries in Perth for Craft Beer Lovers

Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this is common knowledge: when in Perth, have a craft brew. Our neighbourhood is full to the brim with cosy, friendly, buzzing, quirky, can’t-miss watering holes and artisanal breweries that are within easy reach from Hostel G. After all - there’s no better place to enjoy that authentic Perth vibe than at the heart of it all - the brewery. It’s no secret that Perth is home to a number of exciting breweries, perfect for catching up with friends with a cold one in hand, or relaxing with after-work schooners, or even bringing a date. We’ve rounded up our 5 best breweries to get your craft beer fix in Perth’s Metro Area, so scroll down and mark these on your Perth bucket list!

Little Creatures

You can’t think of brews in Perth without mentioning Little Creatures. Located right in Fremantle at what used to be a crocodile farm, the craft beers come straight from serving tanks that have been pumped straight from the brewery - you can’t get any fresher than that! The brewery also comes with its very own open kitchen, where you can get classic pairings for your brews such as fries and wood-fired oven pizzas.

First-timers should go for the Early Riser Lower Cap IPA, which comes bursting with citrusy, pine flavours, but with a humble 4% ABV. More adventurous palates can opt for the Nitro Espresso Stoutini, the brewery’s take on the classic espresso martini cocktail - which uses cold-brewed Mexican coffee infused with nitrogen, for an addictive frothy finish.

Nowhereman Brewing

For those looking for something that’s a bit more under the radar but still within reach, a little pocket of West Leederville is home to Nowhereman Brewing Co. Located just minutes away from central Leederville on foot, this small local business serves up delicious nosh to pair with their brewery staples - which are available by the middy, pint, or even jug. Look out for their Paradice Lager for big and bold flavours, or the Barrels in the Skigh Sour Ale and Fünke Blueberry Season for a unique fruity experience.

Running With Thieves

Built around the concept of freedom, fun, and “questionable lifestyles” that counter today’s trending cultures, Running With Thieves produces all its brews and spirits in-house with locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Find them in South Fremantle at the historic Sealanes warehouse site, just opposite the beach for some refreshing seaside pints. Get yourself their iconic attire, sit back and sip on their brews paired with a seafood-forward menu.

When by the beach, go for the West Coast IPA - a combination of Cryo Hops Citra, Comet, Simcoe, and Crystal for a tropical experience, full of orange notes and hints of pine resin.

Blasta Brewing Company

Named after the Scottish Gaelic word ‘Blasta’, which means ‘delicious’, Blasta Brewing Company is a product of true passion - realised after an 8-month holiday around Europe and Scotland sampling some of the world’s finest beers. It’s gotta be bold, fresh, and the best - enjoyed at its Goodwood Parade outlet. Expect unique flavours inspired from all around the world, such as the Strawberry and Cream-forward The Cat’s Whiskers American Pale Ale, and the fruity Tangerine Dreams, made with a modern German Hefeweizen base.

Pirate Life

Aye, it’s a Pirate Life for anyone who craves for a wide selection of brews - from the easy-going lager and full-bodied stout to the full flavoured Hazy IPA and unique profiles of Single Hop IPA. Its Perth venue on Murray Street boasts the largest brewpub in the CBD, having taken over multiple levels at the old Sony Centre building. The brewery caters to different unique spaces - including an in-house brewery, casual fine-dining restaurant TOMA, two private dining rooms, and more.

Found on Brown Street in East Perth, Bright Tank Brewing is the brainchild of husband-and-wife duo Matthew Moore and Gemma Sampson. This industrial-style brewhouse pairs its craft beers with a delicious offering of good eats, such as pizzas and grilled dishes. Northbridge Brewing

Found in the heart of Northbridge Perth’s entertainment and cultural district, Northbridge Brewing is a three-storey brew pub that not only offers a core range of brews onsite, but also a selection of small batch seasonal beers that are released on a monthly basis. And to pair with that perfect brew, there’s even a rooftop Skydeck, where you can kick back with a glass and enjoy breathtaking views of the Perth City Skyline.

Otherside Brewing

From a one-off brew for a music festival to becoming one of the most popular breweries in Perth, Myaree’s Otherside Brewing Co. is serious about its beers, without taking the culture of drinking it too seriously. Their core range includes a medium-bodied session ale that’s crafted to be the ultimate expression of a tropical, citrusy ‘festival beer’, a juicy and hoppy Hazy IPA, and a sweet, fruity Red Ale. Don’t sleep on their creative releases, which are annually brewed featuring labels from local creative talents.
